Ryan Breslin is ecstatic to return home and join the talented news team at Boston 25 News! As a Massachusetts native, he understands the issues Bostonians face and is eager to share their stories on the Boston 25 morning newscast. Ryan grew up in Wilmington, where his family still lives, is a graduate of Wilmington High School, and earned his Eagle Scout award in his hometown. He didn't have to travel too far down 93 to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism degree from Suffolk University. After graduation, he interned in NYC with ABC News 20/20 and then landed a job with The Boston Globe and Boston.com soon after. His passion for broadcast took him south to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he worked as a reporter for Spectrum News 1. On his first day on air, it was baptism by fire for Ryan, sent out into Hurricane Matthew. While most of his time in NC focused on hurricanes, it's tornados that took the center of his attention once he moved to Nashville, TN. Ryan's first week on air at WSMV 4, a tornado hit downtown Nashville. Just a few short weeks later, the COVID-19 pandemic began, and life as we knew it changed for us all. In Nashville Ryan covered the effects of the pandemic, the state legislature, a Christmas Day bombing, a flood that killed 20 people, a mass shooting at an elementary school, and left Music City having just covered more deadly tornadoes in mid-December. Ryan is thrilled to call Boston home again. He looks forward to exploring new restaurants, taking trips to the beach in the summer, and being close to his family.
