Melrose fire chief placed on leave for alleged violation of city policy

MELROSE, Mass — Melrose Fire Department Chief Ed Collina has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation, the Melrose mayor’s office confirmed to Boston 25 News.

Lauren Grymek, Chief of Staff for Melrose Mayor Jennifer Grigoraitis, said Collina was placed on leave on Friday, March 15 for an alleged violation of City policy.

Further details regarding the investigation were not made immediately available.

Collina was sworn in as the Chief of the Melrose Fire Department in 2018, according to a post on the City of Melrose website.

Boston 25 has left a voicemail for Collina’s phone number with the fire department.
