World-renowned photographer coming to Cape Cod for 'Sharks' event

HARWICH PORT, Mass. — An award-winning National Geographic photographer is coming to the Cape this summer to talk sharks.

Hosted by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, the event will feature a talk by Brian Skerry.

Skerry has been an advocate for shark protection and has worked to increase respect and appreciation for an often misunderstood animal that is an integral part of the ocean's ecosystem.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy is part of a five-year study on the behavior and movement of sharks off the coast of Massachusetts, led by Dr. Greg Skomal.

AWSC supports scientific research, educates the community, and improves public safety.

The organization will host the event at the Wychmere Resort in Harwich Port, Massachusetts June 28.

Skerry is a Milford native and have been the explorer-in-residence at the new England Aquarium. In 2015, he was named a Nikon ambassador.

He graduated from Worcester State College in 1984 with a bachelor of science in communications media.
