AWSC offering girls scholarship to study sharks this summer

BOSTON — The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy is offering a scholarship to study shark biology and conservation this summer.

Shoals Marine Laboratory in Maine is offering the course from July 16-30, 2018 by Gills Club co-founder Dr. Heather Marshall.

The course will cover a range of topics from evolution and diversity to anatomy, morphology and behavior.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy is offering a full scholarship that includes tuition, room and board, and the Shoals lab fee for one female student.

The Gills Club is an education initiative that aims to get girls interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

Students interested in the scholarship must have transcripts showing a certain GPA and submit an essay answering a few questions.
