First look at Amazon's Seaport building

BOSTON — In one of Amazon's newest projects, a 17-story building in Boston's Seaport neighborhood is expected to include Amazon along with 2,000 employees.

The building's developer, WS Development, released these images on Monday.

The company submitted plans to the city in February, for the new development, with the next step being a public planning meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

Designed by architecture firm Gensler, the building, which would be located on Block L-4, would also include a public shopping and restaurants.

According to the proposal, still being discussed by city leaders, work would begin later this year and take three years to complete.

This project is separate from Amazon's 50,000 employee second headquarters.

The location for that project has not yet been announced, where a city spokesperson told Boston 25 News that Amazon has not yet signed the lease, but is in negotiations.

The development agency said the next step is designing approvals, as building permits have been approved.

The city of Boston's civic design commission will talk about the public impact of this proposal, at 5:15 on the 9th floor board room Tuesday.
