'The worst place:' Police search water for missing 23-year-old

BOSTON — The search for a man who disappeared after a Celtics game last week turned to the water Monday.

Boston and Mass. State Police divers searched the water near the Museum of Science for signs of Michael Kelleher, who hasn’t been seen or heard from since last Wednesday.

Kelleher’s family was on hand at the water’s edge Monday as diver’s turned up no trace of the 23-year-old.

"I'm trying to not go to the worst place, I’m trying,” Michael’s mother, Lori Kelleher, said Friday. "We drove to Boston to just start looking all around the Garden, we went to the police, we went to all the hospitals…I don't know what else to do."

Kelleher’s parents were supposed to meet with detectives Monday, but it wasn’t clear if that happened during the search.

“We fervently hope that our search of the river will serve the purpose of ruling out that area, and that Mr. Kelleher will be located somewhere unharmed,” state police said in a release Monday afternoon.

Family and friends of the Southborough, Mass. native have been canvassing the city and hanging fliers, hoping someone will give them a sign.
