Supt: Driver fired after Lowell kindergartner left on bus

BOSTON — A bus driver has been fired after a Lowell student was left on a bus, according to Superintendent Dr. Salah Khelfaoui.

The kindergartner at McAvinnue Elementary didn’t get off the bus Monday morning when it arrived at school and was found on the bus by the driver sometime after 1:00 p.m., according to an email send to the school committee by the superintendent.

The child was released to the parents to decide whether a visit to the hospital or a doctor was necessary.

Based on the information the school sent to the bus company, SP&R, the drive was immediately fired.

Lowell police reported the neglect to the Department of Children and Families.
