Police in Lawrence were investigating a car crash and a shooting at a local park and trying to determine if the two incidents are related.

"These do not appear to be random acts of violence," Chief Fitzpatrick said Tuesday morning. "The individuals involved were specifically targeted. Individuals from Lowell traveled to a dark park in Lawrence with the sole purpose of engaging in illegal activity."
