Bodies of Boston snowshoers recovered after avalanche

LAKE LOUISE, ALBERTA, Canada — The bodies of two snowshoers from Boston that were caught in an avalanche in Canada have been recovered.

Officials believe the two were involved in an avalanche either last Saturday or Sunday; it was discovered they were missing Tuesday when they didn't check out of their accommodation near Lake Louise in Alberta, outside of Calgary.

Avalanche conditions were too dangerous Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for rescuers to go search for the snowshoers. On Friday, the recovery operation began and by 10:30 a.m. their bodies were located.

The identities of the snowshoers have still not been released, but officials said it was a man and woman, both 32 years old.
