BOSTON — Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who left Sunday's game against the Rays early, underwent an X-ray yesterday and an MRI today at Massachusetts General Hospital, revealing a small crack in the talus bone in his left ankle.

The injury, according to the team, is non-displaced and will not require surgery. Bogaerts, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list today, is expected to miss approximately 10-14 days.

The Red Sox will call up Tzu-Wei Lin from Triple A Pawtucket before Tuesday's series opener with the Yankees.

Bogaerts was injured as he slid into the visiting dugout, saving a ball from going out of play. His ankle caught the brick lip on the top step of the dugout and he was removed from the game.

Through nine games, Bogaerts leads the team in hitting with a .368 average, two home runs, nine RBIs and 14 hits.

The Red Sox also announced Monday starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz will make his next rehab start for Double-A Portland this Friday.
