Tom Brady, Dion Lewis earn AFC Player of the Week honors

After a huge 41-16 victory over the Broncos on Sunday night, the Patriots took home a couple more wins on their road trip when Tom Brady and Dion Lewis respectively earned AFC Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week awards.

Brady finally proved he can play well when the elevation changes, as he went 25-for-34 with 266 yards passing and three touchdowns on the night to help the Patriots dominate offensively. He spread the ball out to nine different receivers in the game, and helped the team move to 7-2 on the season with the victory.

The win gives Brady his 30th conference player of the week award in his career, the most in NFL history. At the same time, he also achieved his fifth season in his career where he’s earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors three times in a year.

While Brady was going to work on offense, the Patriots’ special teams might have been the real star of the show. Multiple players could have earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors, but the award ended up going to Lewis for his 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter that served as an early dagger in the big win.
