Red Sox ride bats to win over Pirates

FORT MYERS, FL — The Boston Red Sox banged out 17 hits to collect their eighth straight victory -- a 12-6 Grapefruit League win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

David Price got the nod on the hill for the Red Sox and tossed five innings, striking out four and surrendering two runs.

Rafael Devers collected two hits including a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning that pushed the Red Sox ahead 3-0.

A three-run home run by Sam Travis in the bottom of the sixth inning extended the Red Sox lead to 12-2.

Jeremy Barfield (1 for 2, RBI), Andrew Benintendi (2 for 4, 2 RBIs), Mookie Betts (2 for 3, RBI), Mitch Moreland (3 for 3, RBI), Eduardo Nunez (1 for 3, RBI) and Hanley Ramirez (1 for 4, RBI) all drove in runs for the Red Sox.

Heath Hembree tossed a scoreless sixth inning, while the Pirates would get to both Brandon Workman and Ryan Brasier for two runs apiece.
