BOSTON — The Red Sox may have won in convincing fashion Saturday against the Orioles, but fans spent most of the game wondering if they had suffered a huge loss with right fielder Mookie Betts.

In the first inning, Mookie Betts opened the scoring for the Red Sox on a double off the Green Monster from Andrew Benintendi. On his slide to home plate, Betts collided with Orioles catcher Chance Sisco, injuring his left leg in the process.

Betts stayed in the game after a quick trip to the locker room, but eventually left for good in the fourth inning after attempting to play through the pain. X-rays came back negative, and Betts is listed as day-to-day with a left foot contusion.

Luckily for the Red Sox, they made it through without their top hitter on the field. With home runs from Hanley Ramirez and J.D. Martinez, the club moved to 12-2 on the year for the first time in franchise history.

The team will get two more cracks at the Orioles this weekend, with a game Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. and Monday morning at 11:05 a.m. for a Patriots Day tilt.
