FOXBORO — La'Adrian Waddle, who tested the free agency market, has agreed to a one-year deal that will keep him in Foxboro for the 2018 season.

A six-year veteran from Texas Tech, Waddle emerged as a reliable tackle last year in the wake of injuries that beset the Patriots offensive line.

With Nate Solder now in New York, the competition at tackle will be fierce with an opportunity for someone to step up in minicamps and training camp and win the job.

In addition to Waddle and Marcus Cannon, who played extremely well during the 2016 season, the Patriots have Matt Tobin, Cole Croston, Antonio Garcia and Andrew Jelks on the roster as offensive tackles. Cameron Fleming is also a free agent and has been visiting with other teams since the signing period opened on March 14.

Both Fleming and Waddle reportedly visited with the Dallas Cowboys earlier this week.
