Patriots first playoff game will be Jan. 13 (Saturday night)

Tom Brady and the Patriots beat the Jets in frigid Foxboro

FOXBORO — The Patriots know when their first playoff game of 2018 will be but they don't know who they will be playing yet.

The Patriots will host their Divisional playoff round game at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Jan.13 at 8:15 p.m..

They will play one of these three teams that night: The Buffalo Bills, the Tennessee Titans or the Kansas City Chiefs. No matter who wins on wildcard weekend, the Patriots can't play the Jacksonville Jaguars in that first game because the Jags are the number three seed.

The AFC Wildcard games that will be played next weekend are as follows:

4:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6: Tennessee at Kansas City

1:05 Sunday, Jan. 7: Buffalo at Jacksonville

On Sunday in Foxborough, Tom Brady threw for two touchdown passes, Dion Lewis scored twice and the Patriots defense did not allow a touchdown on the way to a 26-6 win over the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium in frigid Foxboro

The temperature at kickoff was 13 degrees but the wind chill made it feel more like zero degrees.

The Patriots finish the regular season at 13-3.  It is the seventh time in franchise history that the Patriots have won 13 or more games in a season.

The team also clinched the number one seed in the AFC for the 7th time in franchise history.  Five times in the previous six seasons they have clinched the number one seed, the Patriots have gone to the Super Bowl.

"It's a great way to end the year," said Tom Brady.  "13-3 is pretty good to get the number one seed. Our biggest games are ahead of us and hopefully the fans enjoy that and they come out ready to go whenever we play."

"It was all a part of the process. Obviously we knew what was at stake", said Patriots Captain Devin McCourty. "But now we get into that new season and what better way to do that then at home", McCourty went on to say.
