McAvoy will miss at least four weeks

BOSTON — Charlie McAvoy suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee during the Bruins win over Montreal Saturday night and will miss at least four weeks, the club announced Tuesday.

After the four weeks, McAvoy will be re-evaluated.

The rookie defenseman was injured during the first period of Saturday's game. Head Coach Bruce Cassidy believes the injury occurred when his leg collided with the board and not when he tripped shortly afterward.

McAvoy has scored seven goals in 59 games while assisting on 25 others for a total of 32 points.
