Malcolm Butler expected to sign with Titans

BOSTON — Malcolm Butler, as expected, will not play with the Patriots next season after agreeing to join the Tennessee Titans.

NFL Network and ESPN both reported the deal, with Ian Rapoport providing details on the length and term of the agreement.

Butler played four seasons in New England, winning two Super Bowls with the Patriots.  His interception at the end of Super Bowl XLIX clinched the championship.

After playing more than 95% of the snaps during the season, Butler did not play any defensive snaps during this year's Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia. The puzzling decision was never explained by Bill Belichick, who said simply he was doing what was best for the team.

Butler's move to Tennessee will unite him with former Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel, who took over head coaching duties after the Titans lost in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game to New England.
