NESN's Tom Caron joins Austin Bumpus on the fourth episode of Expand On That: A Boston 25 Sports Podcast to dive in on the Red Sox and their hot start this season.

Following in his NESN colleague Doug Kyed's footsteps, Caron steps to the front of the class to dust off his grading skills as "Professor Caron", and grades Alex Cora's performance as the team's leader in the dugout.

He also looks at J.D. Martinez's performance over the first month and a half of the 2018 season, and gives his thoughts on if Martinez can be the building block for the future for the Red Sox.

Caron compares and contrasts this Red Sox lineup to the World Series rosters from 2004, 2007 and 2013, and evaluates the team's chances through the next two thirds of the season.

He also grades Boston 25's own Tom Leyden and Butch Stearns, just to make sure he covers his bases.

Red Sox stories discussed in this week's episode:
Martinez named American League Player of Week
Martinez homers twice as Sox shut out Orioles
Carson Smith suffers potentially major shoulder injury throwing glove
