Boston Red Sox left-hander Drew Pomeranz is set to make his season debut Friday against the Oakland Athletics.
The 29-year-old was placed on the 10-day DL on March 29 after exiting his first Spring Training start with what was a mild flexor strain.
Pomeranz, who went 17-6 with a 3.32 ERA last season, will boost a pitching staff that is among the strongest in the American League. Red Sox starters are off to a 9-1 record and 2.06 ERA.
The move will likely bump Brian Johnson to the bullpen.
Nate Rollins is an intern in the Boston 25 Sports department.
