BALTIMORE — Mookie Betts will be back in the lineup for the Red Sox as they open a series against the last-place Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.

Betts has been activated from the 10-day disabled list, where he was placed on June 1 with a left abdominal strain. He missed the Red Sox' last 14 games, with Boston going 8-6 over that time.

The right fielder will be batting in the lead off spot in his first game back and he still leads the majors this season in batting average (.359), on-base percentage (.437) and slugging percentage (.750). The Red Sox will be getting some power back in their lineup as Betts has 17 home runs this season, including two games where he hit three long balls.

To make room for Betts on the 25-man roster, Boston optioned first baseman Sam Travis to the Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket. Travis appeared in four games and went 2-for-12 with a walk and three RBI.
The Red Sox currently have the second-best record in baseball at 44-22, trailing by half a game to the New York Yankees.
