• Yellow fuel can found in E. Boston not connected to West Brookfield case

    Updated:

More questions surrounding the deaths of 4 people in West Brookfield - after police in East Boston got a tip Tuesday afternoon that has raised red flags in the case.

A concerned citizen contacted police Tuesday, telling them he found a yellow fuel can on Bennington Street.

Friday, the Worcester County District Attorney said his homicide detectives who are investigating the case are actively looking for a yellow fuel can.

A law enforcement source tells Boston 25 News there was evidence of burning on the bodies.

Investigators examined the fuel can and quickly discovered it wasn't the one connected with the case. The one found in Boston was metal, while the one authorities are searching for in connection with West Brookfield is plastic.

The murders are still under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
