Worcester man killed in motorcycle crash

A man led deputies on a high-speed chase through Daytona Beach, Florida. 

WORCESTER, Mass. — A Worcester man was killed after losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a curb, police say.

Worcester Police responded to the crash on Franklin Street early Sunday morning after a call from someone who had passed by the scene, but hadn't witnessed it.

When police arrived, they immediately saw the crash was serious and likely to be fatal.

Investigators say the driver, a 23-year-old Worcester man, was driving on his motorcycle when he lost control, crossing the double-yellow lines and hitting the curb.

The driver then was pushed to the sidewalk, before hitting a small tree and a green light pole, police say.

The man was pronounced dead on scene, and police say it's likely he was instantly killed from the impact of the collision.

The crash is still under investigation.
