LYNN, Mass. — A Lynn man was ordered held without bail after he admitted to killing his wife.
Police were called to an apartment at 8 Chase Street around 4:45 a.m. for a requested well-being check.
According to the police report obtained by Boston 25 News, Miguel Castillo called his sister, Beartriz, in New Jersey and told her he killed his wife - Luz Yanina Acevedo - with a baseball bat. Beartriz then called her brother Federico Castillo, who called Lynn Police.
Police responded to the Chase Street apartment and knocked on the door. Castillo eventually opened the door, came out into the hallway, held his arms out in front of him and said, "Go ahead. Take me. I killed my wife."
When police entered the apartment, they found a black metal baseball bat leaning against a door frame. When officers went into the living room, they saw blood splattered on the wall and Acevedo on the floor. She was pronounced dead on scene by the Lynn Fire Department.
Castillo was ordered held without bail Monday.
The medical examiner will now determine the cause and manner of her death.
The investigation is ongoing.
