BOSTON — After months of debate, the Boston City Council could vote on a bill that would heavily regulate short-term rentals.
The controversial subject is on Wednesday's agenda.
It's been a back-and-forth between the city of Boston and the City Council trying to figure out the best solution to protect people who are trying to find affordable housing versus people who own units and want to rent it out for short-term use.

The proposal would ban investor owned properties from being used as hotels on popular sites like Airbnb.
Mayor Marty Walsh estimates about 2,000 city apartments are being used for short-term rentals.
Walsh says the restrictions would help ease the city's housing crunch.
