USPS says letter carrier was assaulted in Dorchester

BOSTON — The United States Post Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a group of teens who allegedly assaulted a letter carrier.

USPS tells FOX25 the assault happened around 3:15 p.m. on March 1 near St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children in Dorchester.

The letter carrier described the suspects as four Hispanic males in their late teens and one Hispanic female in the same age range.

The letter carrier said he saw the group stealing a package, and when he confronted them they pushed him to the ground and broke his glasses.

Assaulting a postal employee is a federal offense that can carry a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
