#WeGotYoWeed: Deputies taunt growers after seizing $600K worth of marijuana

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. — After seizing an estimated $600,000 worth of marijuana hidden in a corn field in rural Kentucky last month, deputies took to social media to let the growers know: #WeGotYoWeed.

Grayson County sheriff's deputies announced the seizure on social media and ended the statement with the hashtag.

"If it was your marijuana and you would like to claim it, you are asked to call the Grayson County Sheriff's Office," deputies said in a Facebook post.

Authorities even left a note at the scene, WAVE reported.

Grayson County deputies were tipped off to the grow operation late last month. Along with officers with the Leitchfield Police Department, Kentucky State Police and Grayson County Detention Center, deputies descended on a field off Kentucky Route 54 on July 29, ultimately seizing 254 marijuana plants.

Authorities said the marijuana was found growing in between rows of corn. Cornstalks had been pulled up to make room for the marijuana a few hundred feet from the road.

"You know this is just a drop in the bucket," Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins told WAVE. "We know there's a lot more plants out there, and people have mixed feelings about marijuana grows and whether marijuana should be legal or not. But it's currently illegal in the state of Kentucky and we'll continue to enforce those drug laws."

No arrests have been made.
