Teen facing murder charge for South Yarmouth stabbing death

SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. — A 16-year-old is accused of stabbing a relative to death in a South Yarmouth Motel Friday,

Police said the incident happened around 8:50 p.m. at the Beach N Towne Motel on Route 28. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 48-year-old James Dean, and immediately started giving aid.

Dean was rushed to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

The suspect, who is a relative of Dean’s, was taken into custody at the hotel and has been charged with murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The teen is being held at a juvenile detention facility awaiting arraignment.
