Teamsters local 25 & Gov. Baker award college scholarships to HS seniors

BOSTON — Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and Teamsters Local 25 of Boston awarded college scholarships worth $60,000 to 30 high school students.

Every year, Teamsters Local 25 provides scholarships to children of Teamster members and retirees as a way to help the next generation achieve their academic and career goals.

“The young men and women receiving these scholarships are a shining example of why we can be optimistic about the future,” said Teamsters Local 25 President Sean O’Brien. “At Local 25 we feel a deep responsibility to provide opportunities for the youth who will be our next leaders.  Supporting and inspiring the next generation is the smartest investment we can make to ensure we create a better world for all moving forward.”

The ceremony, held at the Local 25 Union Hall, hosted a crowd of 500 people. Participants took a moment of silence and reflection following the school shooting in Santa Fe High School in Texas and Saturday night's deadly crash that killed four Stoughton High School students.

“Congratulations to all the students whose hard work is being recognized with these awards,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “Investing in education will open doors to further opportunities and we look forward to the contributions these students will make in their communities.”
