Suspects wanted for assaulting store owner after shoplifting from Wig World

BOSTON – Police are searching for three suspects after a theft at Wig World in Boston’s Downtown Crossing.

Cell phone video shows a person who appears to be the store owner trying to stop the shoplifters outside of the store in Temple Place.

The suspects allegedly went into the store Wednesday afternoon and took the wigs off several mannequins before running out of the store.

“I usually don’t get too shaken up, it happened,” James Han, the store owner, said. “It’s tough to make a living these days.”

Han tried to get the suspected shoplifters, but ended up on the ground getting hit.

“I tried to grab them, got pulled outside. I was holding them, and saying call the police,” he said. “From what I could remember, I was getting punched and pulled so they can get away.”

Several people passing by stopped to record the attack, as did one person who lives in the apartment above Wig World.

“It’s upsetting, that’s your friend’s on the ground. People are laying there, hitting him, punching him. The most frustrating thing, is seeing everyone taking video around him, and not helping him. I’m staring at the screen, help him,” Justin Han, the store owner’s friend said.

This is the third time this has happened, Han said, and he believes it’s the same suspects who are robbing him.

“When they were here last week, there were five of them, I asked them to leave,” he told Boston25 News reporter Malini Basu.

Han is thankful the situation ended the way it did and that no one was seriously hurt. But he is asking the public, to please help identify the suspects, so he can work in peace.
