Students, teachers hold national school walkout to protest gun violence

Students and teachers participated in a national school walkout on the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting.

Students left their classrooms at 10 a.m. Friday morning to protest gun violence, and also held a moment of silence.

A 16-year-old Connecticut student organized the nationwide event, which saw participation from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida early Friday morning. The school was the location of a Valentine's Day shooting that killed 17 people.
