State Police investigating deadly crash in Haverhill

HAVERHILL, Mass. — One person died and another was severely injured after a car rolled over and crashed on Route 495 Northbound in Haverhill on Saturday.

State Police said an 18-year-old Methuen woman was driving northbound when she lost control of her car, causing it to rollover and crash.

The passenger, an 19-year-old woman also from Methuen sustained serious injuries.

After both women became entrapped in the car, an off-duty Methuen firefighter was able to extricate the driver, while Haverhill firefighters extricated the passenger.

Two off-duty State Police officers also provided first aid at the scene.

Both women were transported to the Lawrence General Hospital, where the driver was pronounced deceased.

The passenger was taken to Tufts Medical Center for further treatment of her injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.

The identity of both crash victims hasn't been released.
