BOSTON — A Methuen resident woke up to a surprisingly happy face Tuesday morning, according to police.
Methuen Firefighters showed up to a home on Haymeadow Drive shortly after 6:30 p.m. when a hot air balloon dropped into a homeowner's yard.

Six passengers were aboard the hot air balloon and were uninjured in the landing.
Tony Sica, the owner and pilot of the happy balloon said landing in residential areas is routine. For others, however, how have never seen such a sight, it was a wake-up call they'll never forget.
The Benoit family woke up to a loud crash in their front yard. Sarah Benoit told Boston 25 News she opened her bedroom window to a huge smiley face.

The balloon's massive smiley face made it quite a sight.
The balloon, owned by High 5 Ballooning, took off early morning from Derry, New Hampshire, under perfect conditions.
"It was incredible, I was trying to think of something to do for my wife's 50th birthday," said Gregory George, the balloon's passenger.
