Sex offender arrested for taking 'upskirt' photos of woman in Wareham

WAREHAM, Mass. — Police have charged a registered sex offender with "upskirting" after they said he took pictures of a woman in a Wareham dressing room.

Officers arrested Greg Mattos Thursday at his home in Onset, charging him with misdemeanor disturbing the peace and photographing an unsuspecting nude person.

Investigators said a woman was inside the changing room in the Rue 21 store in the Wareham Crossing mall Wednesday when she suddenly saw a cell phone in the gap between the floor and the bottom of the door.

Police said the woman screamed and came out to find Mattos running away and attempting to delete pictures from his phone.

"I wouldn't want to be trying something on, and feeling vulnerable in my state of undress, and have some guy coming in and wandering around, let alone taking pictures of me and being able to violate my privacy like that," shopper Amanda Glinski told FOX25.

Investigators told FOX25 that Mattos, who is a level two registered sex offender, works in the same shopping mall at Cosi restaurant, and that he had finished his shift that day and was spotted browsing in Rue 21 for nearly 45 minutes before the alleged incident took place.

Angel Motto said she was in Cosi on Wednesday when police officers arrived to try and track down Mattos.

"There were three police officers that came in to talk to the manager," Motto said. "It was a little creepy especially if you come into Cosi, cause he was one of the bakers and you would kind of interact with him everytime."

Mattos was arraigned Friday morning and remains in jail with a $7,500 bond because police said Mattos was already on bail for a prior charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
