Rev. accused of allegedly shooting teen execution style passed background check

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Parents of students at the Jamaica Plain High School gathered Tuesday night for a forum after a school administrator allegedly shot a student execution style.

About two dozen parents and students were in the auditorium and all had tough questions for administrators and police. They wanted to know how the student who was shot is doing and they were assured will recover from the injuries.

There were allegations brought up of alleged misconduct happening in school bathrooms, but the majority were asking about the safety of students and how that can be guaranteed.

The English High School proclaims to be the first high school in America. Now an unthinkable crisis threatens to permanently tarnish the school's reputation.

"It makes us all embarrassed and ashamed because this person is not a representative of the English High School," one teacher said.

Reverend Shaun Harrison, who is now the former dean of the school, is accused of shooting a student execution style and involving at least one student in an alleged drug trafficking scheme.

When asked if this was expected, one teacher said, "No one wants to suspect this so I have to say no because apparently we've all been fooled by the reputation of somebody that everybody believed to be an honest and good man."

Parents say they're worried about the safety of their kids.

"I am raising 2 African American boys in this city and I'm scared to death," one mother said. "I tell them every morning, be safe."

At the forum Tuesday night, school administrators were quick to point out Harrison only worked at English High for a total of 21 days, but FOX25 has learned Harrison held various jobs at other public schools in Boston and was disciplined at least twice in the past 5 years for other problems.

Still, the district's interim superintendent says Harrison passed a CORI check.

He has since been terminated and the district tells us Harrison was going to be fired the day the shooting happened due to an unrelated incident involving him allegedly pushing a female student.

Boston Police announced that Harrison's case is now being brought to a Grand Jury at the forum. The district let those at the forum know that they've set-up a safety hotline for Boston Public School parents and students, which will be manned 24 hours a day. The number is: 617-592-2378, and they say all calls will be followed up on.

Daily calls to Harrison's attorney haven't been returned.
