The Red Sox will commemorate the five-year anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing this weekend.
Starting Friday and going through Monday's race, the team will recognize those affected by the bombing, beginning with a ceremony before Friday's game against the Orioles. Marathon survivors and family members of Krystle Campbell, Martin Richard, Lingzi Lu, MIT police officer Sean Collier and Boston police officer Dennis "DJ" Simmonds will all be included in the ceremony.
The Red Sox Foundation will donate proceeds from their 50/50 raffles over the weekend to 11 different Marathon-related charities throughout the weekend, and the team has also asked fans to bring toiletries to Fenway Park throughout the weekend to donate to The Dimock Center in Roxbury and Heading Home in Greater Boston.
REMINDER: If you're headed to Fenway tonight or tomorrow you can donate toiletries at any gate! All donations will be delivered to The Dimock Center in Roxbury, and Heading Home, an org that seeks to end homelessness in Greater Boston.
