Realtors mourn the loss of woman killed in Medford pedestrian crash

Realtors across the country are mourning the loss of a woman killed in a car crash in Medford on Sunday afternoon.

The family of 64-year-old Judith Moses, of Brookline, said she had just finished showing a home on Spring Street when she was hit and killed by a 17-year-old driver.

The Middlesex District Attorney said the driver, who only had a learner's permit and was driving under the influence of a drug, kept going after hitting Moses and hit another two people who were walking their dog.

Memorials have been set up on two locations along the street -- one for Moses and another for the couple's dog.

“It’s a real shock and a real tragedy," said Veronica McManus, of the Women's Council of Realtors. "For a tiny person she occupied a big space."

Judith Moses was a nationally recognized realtor who inspired and motivated hundreds of people.

"She was just going to work, walking along and this happened," said McManus.

Moses was the national president of the Women's Council of Realtors in 2007 and owned the Pathway Home Realty group in Newton.

"Which is something that is not that prevalent in Massachusetts – there are not a lot of women [who are] brokers or owners and she said 'you know what, I think I can do this' and she was an inspiration,” said Carol Fontana.

Moses' friends said she was an invaluable resource for other realtors, both on social media and in person.

"She was always trying to make things better or do things in a better way," said Melody Roloff, of the Women's Council of Realtors.

The couple also struck by the driver were seriously injured, but their dog - a great Dane named Duke- didn't survive the crash. The two victims are still at a Boston hospital.

Authorities said the driver, who has not been identified because of his age, is facing several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident causing death and operating under the influence.
