Police: Women say Cambridge roommate was secretly taping guests

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Five women have filed a police report claiming a man living with one of them secretly recorded them in the shower.

The women range in age from 22 to 27 and are mostly women who were visiting a friend living on Gore Street in Cambridge, according to Cambridge police.

One of the women in the complaint – none of them have been named – lived at the house on Gore Street and the women allege it was her roommate who was filming them.

In the complaint, the women say they found a video of a friend naked in the apartment’s bathroom while looking at the roommate’s phone.

“On March 11, 2018 four New York Residents reported that while spending the weekend with a close friend in Cambridge they found out that they were being secretly video-taped inside of the residence without their consent,” the report states.

The women told police they were waiting for an Uber car when they picked up the roommate’s cell phone to search for music to play. While looking at the phone, they say they found a “nude image” of a friend inside the bathroom. The woman in the video said she did not authorize it.

The women said they confronted the roommate about the camera, who said he had no knowledge of it, “but was adamant about wanting it.”

Police say the women also gave them a camera described a “black Wi-Fi hidden camera…spy cam” found in the bathroom.

Though charges have not been filed against anyone, the offenses listed on the form include dissemination of the photograph.
