Only on Boston 25: Dash cam captures video of armed man robbing Lyft driver

BROCKTON, Mass. – A Lyft diver in the Brockton area said he works long days to support his family, but after a recent robbery he’s concerned for his safety.

The man, who asked to only be identify by his first name, Romy, said he picked up four passengers in the Brockton area Friday night and ended up getting robbed.

“It’s really sad,” he said.

Romy shared dash cam video of what happened with Boston 25 News, and said he knew something was off when the suspect kept changing locations.

“I just play in my brain. God, I need you,” Romy said.

After the first three riders got out, the suspect directed Romy to a dead-end road on Massasoit Avenue.

“Something put in my head, all of a sudden, then put it somewhere here. I thought it was a gun,” Romy said.

After the robbery, Romy immediately went to Brockton police.

“I thank God Willis, the officer there, he helped me,” Romy said.

During that time, Romy’s wife logged onto his dash cam app and saw everything go down. She contacted authorities immediately.

“Just how much money we make, in the whole day. It’s hard. All of a sudden, and we have a experience like that,” she said.

Romy is now warning everyone else who drives for Lyft or Uber to make sure they’re taking precautions at all times and trusting their gut.

Police are still searching for the suspect and his friends.
