Police: Teen caught using old cruiser with strobe lights to stop drivers

An 18-year-old high school student is accused of dressing like a police officer, driving a car that looks just like a police cruiser, and pulling someone over.

Police say Stephen Bobola bought an old Crown Victoria at auction and decked it out as a fake police car in an effort to pull people over. He put up strips of strobe lights in the windshields and grills, and draped a high-vis vest over the passenger seat.

The Centerville teen was wearing a sweatshirt with a logo that appeared to be a badge.

Police say the most disturbing part is that Bobola is accused of flashing his lights as he pulled behind the other vehicle, jumping out and running up to the driver holding his hands as if he had a gun.

It's unclear whether the driver who was pulled over was a friend or someone known to Bobola, as police radio indicates could be the case, or a complete stranger.

He will appear in court on charges of impersonating an officer and disorderly conduct.
