Photos show sharks a few yards off of Cape Cod beach

The beginning of the holiday weekend that represents the end of summer is usually one of the last chances beachgoers have to hop in the water, but recent shark sightings may limit the opportunity for one last dip.

On Thursday, Nauset Beach was closed due to an increase in shark activity near the shore.

Photos posted on capecodsharkhunters.com showed a shark hunting vessel tracking a shark just a few yards from the shoreline as beachgoers looked on.

The shark hunting team said they reported the sightings to authorities who then closed the beach Thursday morning.

The beach remained closed to swimming through Friday.

Beaches on Cape Cod Bay remained open.
