New Bedford man arrested after allegedly abusing dog with baseball bat

A New Bedford man was arrested for allegedly abusing a dog with a baseball bat in Dartmouth.

Dartmouth Police responded to a report of animal abuse at around 6:50 p.m. on Friday near Colonial Way.

After an investigation into the incident, officers found 50-year-old Gregory Ostiguy did in fact strike the dog with a bat.

Ostiguy was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

The dog was transported to a local veterinary hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
