Musical featuring gospel icon Bebe Winans to debut in Boston

BOSTON — There's a new musical in town - and you won't want to miss it.

"Born For This," featuring Gospel icon and six-time Grammy Award Winner Bebe Winans will take the stage on June 15th at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre in Boston.

The musical celebrates the true story of Winans and his sister Cece as they leave life in Detroit to join the famous Jim and Tammy Faye Baker in North Carolina at the PTL Network.

Winans and his sister joined the Bakker's television show "The PTL Club" as background singers after going to the audition and landing the gig of a lifetime. Their five year stint on the show changed their lives forever.

Boston 25's Daniel Miller sat down with Winans ahead of his show's much anticipated debut to talk about why Boston was the perfect fit.

"I came here a couple of years ago and fell in love with everything about Boston and just dreamed that one day we're going to come back here and do this show," Winans said. "And from this show in Boston, we'll go to Broadway."

The show, which runs through July 15th, will showcase acclaimed new music and lyrics by Winans. The preview for "Born For This" begins this Friday at 8pm.
