Mattapan man arrested after barricading himself in home

MATTAPAN, Mass. — A Mattapan man was arrested after allegedly barricading himself in a house.

Boston Police officers executed a search warrant on Rosewood Street in Mattapan, with SWAT officers ramming the doors over 100 times because of the house being fortified.

Officers finally made it into the house, and recovered an "AR-style" firearm, a loaded revolver and semi-automatic handgun, and an unspecified amount of ammo.

Police also recovered two ballistic vests, and one gas mask.

They arrested 38-year-old Mattapan native Dana Hill after the incident.

“These officers did an incredible job in this investigation and execution of the search warrant, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans said in a release. "They faced some extremely unsafe and potentially lethal conditions during the incident, but were able to place a very dangerous individual under arrest while preventing him from causing any further harm to the officers or the community."

Evans said he wanted the community to feel safer after the arrest.

"I hope this brings some peace of mind to the people in this neighborhood that this suspect and these weapons are no longer on the streets," Evans said.

Hill was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and using/wearing body armor during the commission of a felony.
