Man accused in West Roxbury homicide will undergo psychiatric evaluation

BOSTON — A man accused of beating and stabbing another man to death in West Roxbury will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

39-year-old Nathurlon Munnerlyn appeared before a judge Friday afternoon.

He was arrested Wednesday in connection with a homicide in Boston last weekend. Police say 40-year-old Brian Sweeney was found suffering from "undetermined traumatic injuries" inside a home in West Roxbury Sunday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not said how Sweeney died or disclosed a possible motive.

In court Friday, Munnerlyn's lawyer told the judge he's unable to have a 'rational' conversation with Munnerlyn. Munnerlyn will be evaluated by doctors at Bridgewater State.

He will return to court December 11.
