Mass. Most Wanted fugitive arrested in New Jersey

NEWARK, N.J. – One of the Most Wanted fugitives from Massachusetts was arrested in New Jersey, more than a year after allegedly assault and robbing two people in Lynn.

Police said Jeffrey Lopez, 28, had been hiding out at an apartment in Newark for the past year while on the run from police.

State police said they believe Lopez is a member of the Deuce Boys street gang and has a lengthy criminal record including weapons, assault, drug and resisting arrest charges.

Lopez is currently wanted for an October 2016 drive by shooting in addition to the 2017 armed robbery and kidnapping.

Last fall Lopez was added to the MSP Top 10 Most Wanted list. Through an investigation with the FBI, State police and US Marshals Service, Lopez was tracked to New Jersey.

Lopez is being held in New Jersey until a rendition hearing for him to return to Massachusetts where he will face the following charges:

  • 2 counts of armed robbery;
  • 2 counts of kidnapping;
  • Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (handgun);
  • Discharge of a firearm within 500 feet of a building and
  • Carrying a dangerous weapon – second offense.
