Marlborough teacher accused of inappropriate conduct with student

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - A Marlborough teacher at the Kane Elementary School is being accused of making inappropriate contact with one of their students.

According to a statement issued by the Superintendent of Marlborough Public Schools, the allegations surfaced around March 16. The teacher was immediately placed on administrative leave with pay.

The school's administration said the teacher will remain on leave for the duration of the investigation, in order to ensure the safety and well-being of their students.

The statement said, in part:

"We take allegations such as these very seriously, and we will continue to fully cooperate with the local police department and other involved agencies in relation to this matter.  However, due to the confidentiality rights of all parties involved, we are unable at this time to comment further on the specifics of the allegations, the criminal investigation, or any related personnel actions."

The statement, however, didn't reveal any specific information regarding the case, citing confidentiality rights of all parties involved.

The school is offering full support to parents and students, where the school's principal, psychologists and counselors will be available to address any questions or concerns.

Boston 25 News learned about these allegations from a parent who was concerned that, even though this incident happened weeks ago, nothing had been said to parents until now.

"I'm sure that police have a handle on it, they will do a good job, I'm confident of that," said Tony Constas. "So it's surprising, but you hear about it a little too often lately."

It took school administrators 25 days to relate the troubling accusations against this teacher.

"It's kind of frustrating to know something like that's happening in school and they haven't called us or said anything," said Camila DeJesus, of Marlborough.

Parents said that, regardless of the outcome of the investigation, they have the right to know what is going on.

"We deserve to know every single step about the investigation because our children, your children, could be the neighbors," said Thiago Freitas.
