Man charged with misleading West Brookfield homicide investigation

Police have arrested a man who allegedly mislead the investigation into the killings of a woman and her three children.

On March 1, 38-year-old Sara Bermudez and her children, ages 8, 6 and 2, were found dead on the second floor of their West Brookfield home.

Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early announced Monday that Matthew Locke, 31, of Ware, was arraigned for misleading a police investigation.

According to court documents obtained by masslive.com, Locke told police he had been in contact with Moses Bermudez, the husband and father of the victims.

Locke allegedly told investigators that Moses stated that they should pay attention to the news in the coming days because anyone associated with MS-13 was going to get hurt and die. Locke's statement indicated that members of MS-13 were responsible for the murders.

Limited details about the killings have been released, but police said Moses Bermudez, who is the father of the three children, was out of town at the time.

When the husband could not reach his wife, he contacted a family member to check on them.

Several days after the murders, police said a yellow gas can had been removed from the home and they were looking for help finding it.

Bail for Locke was set at $10,000 and he is due to appear in court again on April 24.
