Man arrested for alleged abduction, sexual assault in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. — A Lawrence man has been held without bail after allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a girl Thursday morning.

The District Attorney told FOX25 the victim is a 13-year-old girl who, according to police, was on her way to school.

A description of the male and the apartment where the assault allegedly happened led police to 21-year-old Angel Mateo.

Mateo was arrested and faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated statutory rape. Thursday night, officials say a 27-year-old woman came forward claiming she, too, was sexually assaulted by Mateo.

After a court hearing Friday morning, Mateo was ordered held without bail.

The victim told police she was grabbed from behind and forcibly carried to a nearby apartment where she was sexually assaulted.

Police say the victim reported that she was held against her will for more than two hours before being released.

The victim made it to school and contacted her mother about the abduction and assault. The mother then called police.
