Man accused of threatening driver with metal piece during road rage incident

WINCHESTER, Mass. – The victim of an alleged road rage attack told police it was the a beep of her horn that sent the suspect into a rage.

Scott Lawrence is accused of threatening a woman with a piece of steel after she laid on the horn because he cut her off.

A witness tells Boston 25 News the whole incident played out in the middle of the road.

“Two cars stopped in the rotary, no one getting out of the car and traffic was getting backed up and the driver of the first car casually got out of the car no words were exchanged and pulled out what I thought was some sort of club,” Rich Shanahan said.

Winchester police say the people involved exchanged words then Lawrence got back in his car and took off, but was stopped a short time later.

The woman was not injured and Lawrence is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon in Woburn District Court.
