Multiple children taken to hospital following police investigation at Medway home

MEDWAY, Mass. — Multiple children were removed from a home in Medway following an investigation regarding concerns for their welfare, Medway Police Chief William Kingsbury said Friday afternoon.

Kingsbury said “multiple” children living at 105 Holliston Street were taken to a local hospital “for safekeeping.” They are now under the care of the Department of Children and Families.

“They’re all safe right now. Our main focus is the safety of the children as we continue our investigation,” Kingsbury detailed.

Investigators could be seen milling in and around the home and Kingsbury revealed that members of DCF were called to the scene.

Kingsbury said that while the home is considered a crime scene until police leave, there was no homicide investigation initiated and the house was now empty. No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed.

There’s no homicides here. Nobody’s home. Nobody left here with any immediate noticeable injuries. Merely a child welfare case at this point,” said Kingsbury.

Police stayed at the scene late into Friday night, more than 9 hours after first responding to the home.

In a public records request filed by 25 Investigates it was revealed that police responded to the Holliston Street home six times since August 2, 2023, including once for a domestic dispute and a warrant for an ongoing criminal investigation.

“That’s really scary that there’s that much of a problem,” said a woman who asked not to be identified.

She was one of many neighbors walking by who were shocked by the police presence in their quiet town.

“Kind of seems like overkill with the amount of cops cars here but it’s children and the state perhaps so that makes sense.” said Grace Walker who walks by the house daily.

Still the massive police presence baffled neighbors.

“It’s just one of those things you don’t necessarily think about happening here,” said Walker.

And they are especially concerned about what prompted the children being removed.

“I’m not sure I just hope the children are safe. It just seems really odd,” she said.

The investigation is being conducted by Medway police detectives in cooperation with the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police.
